The comprehensive course «Design project manager: take your career to the next level» by Design Algorithm Academy is an intensive programme of 16 academic hours. It is designed for architects, interior designers, decorators and ambitious design students. The course gives you the strategic and practical skills to build your own design business and to manage any turnkey project with confidence.
The main goal of this programme
To develop the competencies of a “Design Project Manager”, equipping graduates with a clear, big-picture vision and operational tools. The course's aim is to teach you to manage clients and budgets strategically and to coordinate the entire project lifecycle — from design to delivery. You'll be able to guarantee excellence through rigorous quality control and perfect regulatory compliance.

Module No. 1
The legal side of the client relationship. It includes the commercial proposal, drawn up for each of the 3 design stages and involving 3 separate contracts. All three stages include budget definition, to let the client manage their finances effectively and predictably.
Module No. 2
Managing potential suppliers starting from the concept phase — to obtain cost estimates for the materials specified in the project, as well as technical information, well ahead of the final design stage (technical drawings). Working with construction companies that are brought in even before the design process is complete.
Module No. 3
Site management, which includes: working with the construction company and the various suppliers of finishing materials, doors, plumbing and building equipment, standard and custom furniture, appliances, lighting, textiles and décor. Quality control and the management of logistics, schedules and budgets.

Module 1: Commercial strategy and client management
Aim: The role of the design project manager. Methodology. Strategic advantages. 5 hours of theory
- Stage 1 — The concept contract. Analysis of the client's needs. Preliminary budget.
- Stage 2 — The budget contract: turning the concept into an estimate. Negotiation strategies
- Stage 3 — The design documentation contract. Coordination with contractors.
- An integrated toolkit: from the first client meeting to a winning contract
Module 2: Proactive integration of suppliers and companies
Aim: Theory. 5 hours
- An intelligent supply chain: engaging stakeholders during the concept phase
- A preliminary economic assessment of suppliers' commercial offers
- A strategic alliance with a construction company
- Co-designing with suppliers and contractors. The supply chain
- Time synchronisation: the project schedule and deliveries
Module 3: Site management and quality control
Aim: Practice. 6 hours
- The start of construction: communicating with the building crew. Roles.
- The heart of coordination: on-site meetings. Management methods. Analysis of disputes
- Logistics and materials-flow management. Quality control. Claims.
- Budget control during delivery. Financial reporting.
- A quality control protocol for the construction site
- Case study analysis. The site close-out procedure.
